It’s just a giant buttercup really. But then size does matter; and the marsh marigold is bigger brighter, better. quite a common plant in marshy areas along rivers and elsewhere. Its flowering is quite short lived and peaks at around the same time as the best fishing. Hence it’s a welcome sight and evokes pleasant memories of good days fishing. It’s especially common in Upper Teasdale, where there are whole fields full of it in spring.
